About St. Stephen’s

Established in 1971, St. Stephen’s provides a relationship-centered learning experience for students 15 months through 8th grade.

Using Montessori principles, we encourage our students to become lifelong learners and influential global citizens. We aim to nurture each child’s academic, creative, and spiritual potential. This mission is supported by a set of core values that foster individuality, service, curiosity, relationships, belief, and a commitment to the future.

Through academic success, critical thinking, spiritual growth, and creative expression, we are committed to providing an educational experience that isn’t one-size-fits-all. Our focus is to aid students in becoming good learners and good people.

Education is about exploration, inspiration, and a willingness to look deeper at the world around us. At St. Stephen’s, we believe that students learn best in a safe, respectful, and accepting environment. We also integrate social and emotional formation into our overall curriculum and life of our school community. Our school encourages our students to form a global perspective that embraces differences and affirms the innate worth of all people.

Guiding principles

At St. Stephen’s, we believe that character and community are just as important as academics. That’s why our community is rooted in IGROW, five guiding principles that shape how we learn, interact, and grow together.

I

Integrity

Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

G

Grace

Treating ourselves and others with kindness and compassion.

R

Respect

Honoring all people, perspectives, and the world around us.

O

Optimism

Approaching challenges with hope, courage, and resilience.

W

Wisdom

Using knowledge and experience to make thoughtful choices.

These principles are woven into daily life, through classroom conversations, conflict resolution, leadership opportunities, and moments big and small. IGROW helps students develop a strong sense of self and a deep commitment to their community.

What makes

St. Stephen’s different

Montessori + Episcopal Continuum

We are accredited by the American Montessori Society and the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools, offering a unique blend of inquiry-based learning and spiritual development for children ages 15 months to Grade 8.

Holistic Development

Academic excellence is balanced with a focus on social-emotional well-being, physical health, creativity, and global awareness. Our curriculum engages students in hands-on work, service, reflection, and cross-disciplinary exploration.

Close-Knit Community

With low student to teacher ratios (average 10:1), multi-age classrooms, and long-term faculty, we foster strong relationships between students, teachers, and families. Learning is deeply personal and supported by genuine connections.

Integrated Specialist and Enrichment Programs

In addition to their core curriculum, each day includes structured time for specialist classes (Art, Music, PE, Spanish and DaVinci Lab). As students grow, their specialist time increases supporting deeper skill building and creative expression.

Accredited by

American Montessori Society

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: nurture each child’s academic, creative, and spiritual potential. When children are seen, respected, and challenged, they become individuals who care and do from a place of deep understanding.
